Rowling, J.K. (1998) ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’, US signed and inscribed first edition in fine condition with provenance

Category:
Joanne Kathleen Rowling (1998) ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Scholastic. Signed and inscribed by Rowling on the blank page facing the title page: “To Laurene, with best wishes JK Rowling”. Housed in a beautiful full red leather solander case which protects the book perectly whilst displaying the book gorgeously on the shelf. Provenance: Inscribed to Laurene M. Claridge who was the district sales manager for Scholastic from 1995 onwards and at the time of the book’s publication. The book was signed to her in Atlanta in October 1999. Her handwritten testimony on a Scholastic notepad is loosely inserted. Condition: an absolutely fine and unread copy in like dust jacket which shows all first issue points: the correct price on the flap as well as the Guardian blurb at the rear. Due to a marketing decision Harry Potter the Philosopher’s Stone which was published in the UK in 1997 was renamed into Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in the States.  The first print run of the first Potter published in America was 30,000, moderate compared to the later books which saw first print runs in the millions. Whereas an inscribed first UK edition would fetch six figures this is a more affordable alternative. Our price is justified by scarcity, desirability, as well as the impeccable provenance and the book’s mint condition.
